the third Lutheran church of Kajaani 1896

Venäläiset tuhosivat Kajaanin ensimmäisen kirkon vuonna 1716 yhdessä linnan kanssa. Kaupungin toinen kirkko rakennettiin 1734 – 35. Se purettiin huonokuntoisena 1895. Nykyinen kirkko on valmistunut 1896. Sen on suunnitellut arkkitehti Jac Ahrenberg. Rakennus edustaa 1800-luvun loppupuolen koristeellisinta uusgotiikkaa.

The first Lutheran church of Kajaani was destroyed by the Russians during the Great Wrath in 1716. Also the fortress of Kajaani was destroyed. The second church was built in 1734-1735. It was pulled down in 1895 because the building was rottened. The third church of Kajaani was built in 1896. This church was designed by Jac Ahrenberg. The architecture represents new gothic of the late 1800’s.
